Ralph E. Tyler is elected commander of the James E. Coffey Post 3, Nashua for 1989-1990. Tyler is a retired National Guard member of 21 years, retiring in 1968. He has worked at the International Paper Box Machinery for forty years and continues to work. He has raised five children, two boys and three girls. He remarried September 8, 1969.
The new officers of the James E. Coffey post 3 were installed at a ceremony held at the post home on 11 Court Street. The installation team was headed by District 2 Commander, Ernest Robinson. James E. Coffey Post 3 Commander Jack Lemery attended the 72 American Legion National Convention held in Indianapolis, Indiana August 24-30, 1990. The host hotel for the convention was the Hyatt Regency, Indianapolis.

Post 3 hosts the annual Legion Clambake at Pulaski park September 16, 1990 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The feast features clam chowder, steamed clams, lobster and chicken. Entertainment includes Las Vegas games, sports and music.

Mayor Bernie Streeter and County Sheriff Jim Hardy make the first donations to Eleanor Potter the Auxiliary Unit 3 poppy drive chairwoman on the 21st of May, the 1st day of the drive. On Saturday May 29, 2004, the World War II memorial was dedicated In Washington. The event was attended by 34 NH WWII veterans. The outside deck at Legion Post 3, 11 Court St, catches fire at 11:30 PM and is completely destroyed, also damaging the lounge heat pump beyond repair. Cause of the fire is suspected to be from smoking materials igniting the bedding of a homeless man sleeping under the deck stairs.

Coffey Post Senior baseball team was one win from the state title. Nashua Coffey Post 3 made it three wins in three days at Historic Holman Stadium, blanking Laconia in the winners’ bracket final, 4-0, on Sunday night. But in the championship match-up on Tuesday, Nashua lost to Portsmouth 8-5, forcing a final showdown. On Wednesday Nashua fell again to Portsmouth 4-0 finishing as runner-ups in the state tourney.

Nashua Jr. Legion team was eliminated in the Northeast Regionals in West Havershaw, N.Y. Nashua dropped both its games in pool play, which eliminated the Coffey Kids from finals contention.
In fact, the loss early in the day 7-4 to Connecticut state champion Wallingford put Nashua out of contention as that gave Wallingford the “Army Pool” title. Nashua then went on to lose to New York champion Rockland, 12-3.
