Six members of the James E. Coffey Post 3, American Legion, were added to the rolls of 50-year members at a special event held recently at the Post home.  They were: Stanley P. Jerszyk of Hudson, Andrew F. Burhham, Waclaw Choinski, Leo R. Poliquin and Richard B. Theurer, all of Nashua, and Irene A. Hall, now a resident of Washington, D.C.  Each received a certificate of continuous membership.
The event at the post home was attended by several 50-year club members, their wives and guests.  Post Commander Barry Palmer greeted the attendees and echoed the title of Tom Brokaw's best-selling book about World War II, calling them "the greatest generation.
Service Officer and past commander, Tom Potter, told the group about the many services available to Legion members.  Chaplain Seteve Davis offered the invocation, which preceded a buffet and an afternoon of socializing among the long-time members.
The member attending who had the longest length of Legion service was Albert .C. Boyer, with 56 years.  Other long-termers on hand included Louis Prince, Albert Coffey and past commander Royal E. Miller, all 54-year members.  Coffey Post 3 currently has more than 60 members who have served the American Legion for a half-century or more.
