
From the Nashua Telegraph. This photo, courtesy of the Nashua Historical Society, was taken was taken during a Memorial Day ceremony in Nashua's Woodlawn Cemetery on May 30, 1917. It shows US Army Company D of the 26th Yankee Division lining up for the event. Information with the photo names the sergeant standing beside the color bearer as Frank Poff, and directly behind him is famous Nashua soldier Amedee Deschenes, who would soon travel to Europe to fight in World War I. He died the next year in France after a gas attack.
