The James E. Coffey Post 3 was the recipient of several awards at the 58th NH Department Convention held in Keene, NH June 24-26th, 1978.

On June 24th, during the awards ceremony, the post received the National Americanism Citation; the NH Dept. Community Service Award No.1; the NH Dept. Service Trophy; and the NH Dept. Pat Devine Memorial Trophy.

The National Americanism Citation is awarded by The American Legion National Commander and the National Americanism Director to Post 3 for outstanding service to its community for 1977-1978.

The NH Department Community Service Award is awarded annually to the post which excels in the Community Service work of The American Legion in New Hampshire.

The NH Department Service Trophy is awarded to the post that excels at Service Work for veterans.

The NH Dept. Pat Devine Memorial Trophy is awarded to the post that excels at maintaining a scrapbook of news clippings and photographs pertaining to the activities of the post, particularly in connections with assistance and patriotic observances and actions on behalf of disabled veterans, their widows, and orphans and generally participate in community projects of all sorts.
