Earl F. Mellon, past commander of the James E. Coffey Post, American Legion, was elected Commander of the American Legion of New Hampshire at the closing session at Newport Saturday. Rev Pierre C. Gamache, also of Nashua post was re-elected state chaplain.

The delegates voted to hold the 1937 session in Manchester and an invitation was received from Portsmouth for the 1938 session.

Large delegations from Nashua were in attendance and the Coffey Post band was one of the feature musical outfits in the parade.

In addition to Commander-elect Mellon, who was promoted from the post of vice commander, the delegates elected the following officers, Vice commanders, Col. Melvin W. Rowell of Northwood, Norman McMeekin of Woodsville and Harry Smith of Woodsville; adjutant, Frank N. Sawyer of Weare for two years; chaplain, Rev. Pierre Gamache of Nashua; treasurer, George W. Morrill of Concord; judge advocate, Ernest L. Bell of Keene; auditor, Percy Bennet of Manchester; historian A. J. Plourde of Manchester.

District commanders and vice commanders were elected as follows: First, A. J. Cournoyer of Jaffrey; Percy Feather of Keene. Second, E.C. Day of Antrim, Guy Howard of Hudson. Third, Lorenzo Brunelle of Somersworth, Edward Jablonski of Rochester. Fourth, Aime Plante of Manchester, Harold Tollson of Bedford. Fifth, Albert E. Welch of Penacook, James Doone of Henneker. Sixth, Arthhur Pierce of Lebanon, James Townsend of Claremont. Seventh, Harold B. Twombly of Meredith, Stewart McClellan of Alton. Eighth, Leo Ray of Gorham, Harley Cole of Plymouth.

Delegates to the national convention: Earl Mellon of Nashua, Frank Sawyer of Weare, M. F. Devine of Manchester, E. L. Bell of Keene, John L. Sullivan of Manchester, Frances Coleman of Exeter, Rev.
