Gary Johnson was elected commander of James E. Coffey Post, American Legion at the group's annual election of officers last night. A Veteran of the Vietnam War and a postal employee, Johnson will succeed Donald Derosiers, who presided. The installation of the new post and auxiliary officers will take place in the post hall Thursday night at 8.

The installation ceremonies will be conducted by a District 2 team headed by District Commander Victor Falcetti. A buffet will be served by the local auxiliary.
Plans were discussed further for the annual Coffey Post Memorial Mass to be held this Sunday at 10 in St. Casmir's Church on Temple Street.
(An historical note: Gary Johnson is the grandson of William J. Johnson who was Coffey Post commander from 1937-1938.)
