The membership of the James E. Coffey Post 3, American Legion purchased the 11 Court St. former police station that they have been leasing from the city of Nashua since 1940 for the sum of $5. The post acquired the deed (pictured) to the building on 24 Aug 1965.

The transaction was approved by the city's board of aldermen at a meeting held on 13 July 1965. The city benefits from the transaction because it will no longer incur the costs of maintenance and insurance which it has been carrying since 1940. Those expenses will now fall on the post. The post benefits because ownership of the building will allow them to perform extensive remodeling to the interior of the building.
