
Resolution officially leasing the old Police Station to the American Legion reads as follows.
"Authorizing the Lands and Buildings committee to execute a lease of the old Police Station Buildings and equip it with a heating plant"
City of Nashua in the year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Hundred and Thirty Nine.
Resolved by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Nashua;
That the lands and Buildings Committee of the Board of Aldermen be and it is hereby authorized to execute for and on behalf of the City of Nashua a lease of the old police station building, so called, exclusive of the cell block now located in the westerly portion of said building, located on Court Street, as is , except for a heating plant, to the James E. Coffey Post No 3 of the American Legion, Department of New Hampshire, a corporation duly organized by law and located in said Nashua, at an annual rental of one dollar ($1.00) for a term of 30 years from date of execution of said lease with an option on behalf of said James E. Coffey Post to renew said lease for an additional term of 10 years at the same rental, if evidence is produced to the Board of Aldermen that said post is still an active organization at the time set for renewal. Said lease to contain the usual covenants.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Lands and Buildings Committee of the Board of Aldermen be and it is hereby authorized to have installed at the expense of the City of Nashua, as soon as is convenient, whatever heating plant may seem adequate to said Committee, in said old Police Station building, so called, exclusive of said cell block. The whole cost of said heating plant and installation not to exceed Twenty five hundred dollars ($2,500).

The lease of the buildings to the James E. Coffey Post, American Legion was executed and signed February 1, 1940. Representing the Coffey Post and signing the lease were; Nelson J. Seymour, Commander and William T. Mulligan, Finance Officer. Signing for the City were; Edward R. Benoit, Ernest R, Levesque, Albert Dionne, Arthur J. Renaud and John F. Stanton, Aldermen of the City of Nashua. The lease was recorded in the Hillsborough County, Register of Deeds Office on February 13, 1940.
