"Constantine N. Caros (pictured), World War II veteran, was elected commander of James E. Coffey Post, No. 3, American Legion, last evening at the regular monthly meeting before the largest attendance in several months.
He succeeds Edgar R. Caron and is the third veteran of the most recent worldwide conflict to be chosen for the highest Legion office.
Commander Caron announced the installation of officers would be held jointly with the Auxiliary at the Legion home Tuesday evening, Oct 11.
After a motion by Andrew Bernier, amended by Albert G. Coffey, it was voted to ask the finance committee of the Board of Aldermen to open bids for the placing of bronze plaques bearing names of World War II veterans at Deschenes Oval on Railroad sq. It was again stated that many of the names on the present wooden plaques had fallen off or were practically obliterated.
It was announced the Coffey post band would march to the stadium for the city-wide jamboree which opens this evening. Members were also asked to take part in various capacities there
