"A testimonial dinner honoring Past Commanders Leo Desclos and Leo Sirois was held at the James E. Coffey post, American Legion home Saturday night.
A gold life membership card was presented to Desclos by Mayor Dennis J. Sullivan, Legion member. Presenting a similar card to Sirois was Post Commander Joseph Gall.
The testimonial attracted many persons, including Mayor Sullivan, Alderman Charles Theroux, Councilor Frederic H. Fletcher of Milford and James Clemons, state commander of the Disabled American Veterans.

A brief history of the newly appointed life members was read by past historian for 40 years, David P. Stevens, also a life member.
To date, the Coffey Post has awarded nine life memberships. The previous seven went to the late Edgar Lemire, William Johnson and George French; Cornelius Brosnahan, Atty . Richard Welch, Andrew Bernier and Stevens.
Heading arrangements were co-chairmen Clemons and Roland Caron, assisted by A. Charles Lindsay, Chester McKuskie, Andrew Bernier, William baker, John Bisset, Mary Sullivan, Ernest Leblanc, Royal Miller, Robert Farrell and Stevens.
The dinner committee included Doris Cote and Marion Lecius co-chairmen while the dining room was in charge of Madeleine Bisset. Roland Caron served as toastmaster.
A letter of congratulation was read from Department Commander Maurice Levesque of Nashua who was unable to attend."
