Nashua's James E. Coffey Post, AL Junior baseball team won its first state title in six years here Saturday night edging Keene's Gorden Bissett Post by a 7-6 margin in the deciding game of the two out of three series.
The deciding game of the series, like the opening game at Holman Stadium, was forced into extra innings with Nashua breaking a 6-6 deadlock in the 11th with the 7th and deciding run. Nashua had won the series opener in 12 innings, 4-3. Keene copped the second game in the regulation distance coming from behind in the ninth inning to win by a 4-3 margin.
Right hander Ronnie Cote was credited with the victory in the finale at Manchester's Athletic Field to emerge from the state title series with the decisions in all three games. He was credited with the victories in the first and third games in which he relieved and with the loss in the second game, which he started. Ronnie came on in the eighth to work the final four frames and wind up the play-off with a total of 17 innings of work over a three day period.
A base on balls, Andy Papathan's single and an error by shortstop Billy DiJulio permitted the third game's deciding run to score in the 11th.
