In May of 1985, the members of the James E. Coffey Post 3 elected Margaret Moore (pictured) as the first female commander of the post. "Peg" Moore is a Marine Corps Korean War veteran. She was born in Cambridge, MA and graduated from Arlington High School. She was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1956. She has served Post 3 as Chaplain, Junior Vice Commander and Senior Vice Commander. For the past four years she has served as the Adjutant for American Legion District 2. She is also the only woman member of the post's color guard.
