The winner of the American Legion Oratorical District 2 Contest held at Coffey Post No. 3, was Frederick Gerbino of Hollis High. Tonnlee Brown, Mascenic regional high School and Stephanie Hyde of Concord Christian Academy were runner-ups, according to Chairman, Alan C. Thomaier. The program was under the direction of Commander Ralph E. Tyler and District Commander, Walter Smith. (Commander Tyler of Post 3 is shown presenting the award to Frederick Gerbino)
Frderick Gerbino will now participate in the State Contest. The Legion's purpose according to State Commander Harry Poper was for the students to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States, and the advantages of living in our Republic.
Judges for the Coffey Post contest were Morton A. Houle, Stephan Condojani ad Donald W. Connors. Also present were Auxiliary President, Dottie Hunnewell and Department Chairman, Don Still, and Dictrict Chair, Al Nesbit.
