
On March 21, 1969, the Nashua Telegraph ran a 15 page special supplement section highlighting the 50 years of service of the James E. Coffey Post 3, American Legion.
The article, submitted by the historian, chronicles the posts beginnings in 1919 and the establishment of its first home; names its charter members; its current officers; and even includes photos of the first 50 commanders of the post. It highlights the many Legion programs that the post participates in including, Veterans assistance by the Service Officer; Boys State; Legion baseball; high school oratorical contest; school projects; national holiday ceremonies; flag etiquette and more.
Included is a proclamation by Nashua mayor Dennis J. Sullivan, proclaiming the week of March 16-27, 1969 be known as American Legion week in the city of Nashua.
