Post Membership for 1957-1958: 985
The Coffey Post enjoyed a very successful year during the term of Commander Walley F. Estes. The Post exceeded its membership quota and had the honor of being the second largest Post in the State of N.H. Commander Estes was installed at impressive ceremonies, and at the same time, his wife, Mrs. Marie Estes was installed as President of the Auxiliary Unit 3.
The Post participated in all Legion programs, and again conducted the Blue Crutch drive, raising a substantial sum. Junior baseball and Naturalization programs were carried out. The Post received a special Navy award for co-operation with the Navy, in allowing use of Legion rooms, for the Navy recruiting program. The Portsmouth Legion degree team conducted impressive induction services on a large class of Legion members. The New Years Eve party, the Irish Night party, the Birthday party, and other social events, were held during the year. Repairs to the outside of the building and windows in the main hall were completed during the year.
