
The James E. Coffey Post No. 3 American Legion joined the Nashua Elks in its annual Flag Day exercises at the Elks home on DW Hwy South. The public was invited.
Exalted Ruler of the Elks, Richard Baker presided over the services assisted by officers of the Nashua Lodge, and members of the Elks Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Cub Scout units. The history of the Flag was given by past Exalted Ruler, George W. Sargent, and the response to the history was given by past Exalted Ruler, Norman E. Wren. Roland A. Caron, PC, of the American Legion and a member of the Elks, was the guest speaker.
After the Elks ceremony, the Legion held outdoor services led by Coffey Post commander, Barry Glass, at which time all unserviceable American flags were destroyed in the prescribed ritual.
