Ernest E. Ledoux of Nashua, by a one-vote margin, was elected commander of the N.H. Department of the American Legion at the annual state convention Saturday in Keene.
The Nashuan defeated Charles R. Mann of Merrimack, an outgoing vice commander, 176 votes to 175.
Ledoux is a former two-term commander of James E. Coffey Post. The retired postal employee is a past state vice commander, who lost out in a bid for commander by 11 votes several years ago.
The new president of the state auxiliary is Florence LaPorte of Bedford.
Legion vice commanders elected were Robert Pellitier of Greenville, Kathleen M. Bookwith of Claremont, J. Robert Caouette of Contoocook and Joseph Caouette of Rollinsford. Keith Fleury of Wilmont Flat is service officer.
Lester R. Perham of Milford, past state commander, is department auditor; Royal E. Miller Jr., of Nashua is treasurer; Joseph Schanda is judge advocate and Herberta T. Stark is historian.
Among state auxiliary officers is Adrain Alix of Greenville, who was elected secretary-treasurer.
The officers were installed at the annual dinner Saturday night.
