On Wednesday, Jan 31, 2018, a detail from Post 3 attended the burial services for US Army Korean war veteran, Norbert Bruneau at the NH Veterans cemetery in Boscawen.
Norbert's ashes had been held at the Anctil-Rochette funeral home since June of 2017. He had no living family to take care of his remains. Longtime friend Charley Colletta learned of Norbert's situation and mentioned it to Nashua Mayor James Donchess at a banquet they both attended. Donchess suggested that he call Barney Barbera. Charlie reached out to Barney Barbera, Post 3 PC/LM and chairman of the mayor's veterans council for help in obtaining Norbert's military DD-214 discharge papers so that he could be buried at Boscawen. Barney was able to obtain the records.
The detail attending the internment were: Barney Barbera,PC/LM; Bob Courtemanche, Sr. Vice commander, Don Vincent, Jr. Vice; Ron Poirier, PC, Chaplain; Priscille Barbera, PP, Auxiliary Unit 3. Also in attendance were Bruno's old friends Charlie Colletta and Moe Chasse as well as funeral director Eric Rochette.
In this undated photo, obtained from an article about the burial by Dean Shaloup published in the Nashua Telegraph on Sunday, Feb 11,2018, Bruno is shown in his James E. Coffey Post 3, American Legion Baseball uniform with his sister Christine. The photo was taken at their French Hill home.
