The Color Guard won the competition at the 47th Annual Convention of the American Legion Department of New Hampshire held in Laconia, NH June 25-27, 1965. The newly formed color guard won first prize for "best color guard".

Another first prize went to the posts marching unit for "outstanding marching ability of a unit". Included in this category are the band, color guard and marching group led by Commander Earle F. Wesson.

The band took second place in the band awards division, wpm by Gordon Bissell Post of Keene.
