" New officers of James E. Coffey post, American Legion and its auxiliary officially took over their duties last evening following the annual installation ceremonies at the Legion home before a large attendance. The two groups are headed by Chester J. McKuskie, commander of the post and Mrs. Irene Mercier, Gold Star mother , president of the auxiliary.

According to Legionnaires and auxiliary members who have been attending similar ceremonies for many years, the installing teams from District No. 2 were the smoothes working units to ever appear here. The installing suits were headed by District Commander Albert Quinn of Temple and District director, Mrs. Dorothy Stockwell of Amherst.

Installed to office for 1954-1955 were the following:

Commander: Chester J. McKuskie.
Senior Vice Commander: Frederick M. Clemons.
Junior Vice Commander: Andrew Maurice Bernier.
Adjutant: Miss Mary H. Sullivan.
Finance Officer: Gordon A. MacDonald.
Treasurer: Edgar E. Lemire.
Chaplain: Paul R. Massie.
Service Officer: A. Charles Lindsay.
Historian: David P. Stevens.
Trustee: Andre V. Dion.
Trust Officer: Atty. George M. French.
Assistant Trust Officer: Robert Whitney
Sergeant At Arms: Arthur O'Neil.
Executive Committee: Atty. Leo R. Lesieur, Andrew Bernier."
Post Membership for 1954-1955: 885.

" ...The new leaders, Commander McKuskie and Mrs. Mercier both asked for full support of their units and promised they would do their best in carrying out their offices.

Luncheon was served by Mrs. Bertha Nash, chairman, assisted by Mrs. Betty Coleman, Mrs. Marion Lecius, Mrs. Madeline Primus and Mrs. Helen Walsh.

The ceremonies were attended by a number of representatives from other veterans organizations."
