The exterior of the Legion Hall was Painted for the first time in over 20 years; this greatly improved the appearance of the Hall and created ambitions to improve the interior, and in June extensive work was started in renovating inside. This included the instillation of running water and toilets, painting, papering, remodeling, and paneling both the upstairs club room,the basement dug-out as well as the main hall. -Copied from Historian book 1940-1943

May 30, 1947
On May 30th, of 1947 the post was rededicated. Participation in the dedication service included: Rev. Fred Mumby, of the Methodist Church, Rev. Foley, of St. Marys, and Supervisors were Howard Reed and Lewis Oldenburg. State Commander Carl Ganschaw gave the dedication address and Post Commander Claude Casteel was in charge of the dedication service.

Jerry Lee of the 7th grade and Bradley Beam of the 5th grade.

Miss Patricia Duffy, our Wolverine Girl Stater was guest at Potluck dinner. Patricia gave a very interesting and detailed report on her stay at Wolverine Girl State and said she was proud to receive 2 honors while there. Pat was elected Mayer of Gillman City and also received the County Outstanding Citizenship Award. After listening to Pat one could easily see why she had been presented these honors.

Our Girls Stater AnneMarie Costello, attended our meeting and told of her experiences at Girls State this year. She was attached to Hughes City Hall, was one of the girls who passed the Bar exam and was a Social Service Committee - person. She was grateful for the experience and learned a lot at the camp as well as making new firends and having fun.

Nelson receives a plaque from the Michigan Paralyzed Veterans of America for the Post's support of the MPVA. For the past 5 years the Post 216 Color Guard has provided the opening ceremonies for the organization's annual 'Salute to Veterans Gala.' Presenting the plaque were Keven G. Elya, President MPVA,and Michael F. Harris, MPVA Executive.

The Milford Memorial Day Parade is centered on honoring those veterans that are not here, MIA (missing in action), POWs (Prisoners of War), and our deceased - these are the ones that gave the supreme sacrifice.

Harley "Butch" Maxwell became SAL Detachment Commander for the 2014 - 2015 year. His special project is making people aware of PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Also, to help in trying to get this changed from Disorder to an injury. In doing this veterans will be able to get the help they need to cope with trying to live a normal life.
