In July 8, 1919, military veterans in Bend, Oregon applied for their temporary charter into the American Legion. The American Legion post in Bend would be originally named Percy A. Stevens Post 4. Stevens Chute Post 4 Commander William Chan spent the week of October 23-28, 2016 at the National American Legion College in Indianapolis, Indiana. Commander Chan and 58 of his Charles "Charlie" Schmidt classmates were immersed in learning and developing leadership skills. The 2016 class worked on various real life scenarios to fix into solutions. Additionally, the class developed and presented various resolutions at the mock Department convention.
