The 2016-2017 contest was held at Bend's Summit High School library. Danielle Axten, a Summit High Senior won the Post contest. She discussed parts of the United States Constitution to American Legion family members, Summit High School's Speech club, the judges for the contest, and community members. Additionally, Danielle is the District 5 winner. She will compete in the Department of Oregon's Area 4 contest at American Legion Post 19 in The Dalles, Oregon on February 11, 2017.
