On July 11, 2015, Stevens-Chute Post 4 member William Chan became Oregon Boys State Chair. At the Department Executive Committee (DEC) meeting held during the 2015 Oregon American Legion College in Prineville, his nomination to succeed Past Department of Oregon Commander Don Epperson as the head of Boys State was ratified. William became in charge of ensuring that the annual one week leadership academy is run. He works on getting facilities, lodging, meals, guest speakers, and ETC are provided for the high school juniors each June. Previously, William was a member of the Oregon Boys State Commission/Committee from October, 2012-July 11, 2015. He was an Oregon Beaver Boys State citizen (sponsored by Post 3 Eugene) in June, 1990.
