Vicki English has been named commander of Stevens-Chute Post 4 of the American Legion in Bend. English is the first female veteran to hold this position since the post was created in 1919. She previously served as the post’s adjutant for two years and was the senior officer responsible for administration. English has been a member of the American Legion for 26 years. While serving in the Navy, English was stationed at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland and the Bureau of Naval Personnel. She has lived in Bend since 1990 and has worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Central Oregon and Alaska.
