On February 17, 2018, the Area 4 Contest took place in Burns, Oregon. Jonathan "Jack" Skidmore won the Area 4 title after giving his prepared and assigned speeches on the United States Constitution. The Summit High School Freshman will compete for the Department of Oregon title at the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs on March 3, 2018. This Stevens-Chute Post 4 sponsored contestant is the 2nd straight person from the same high school to compete for the Department (State) title. Summit Hoff Alum Danielle Axten placed 3rd at the Department of Oregon contest during the 2016-2017 school year.
