About This Post

Post Namesake

Original Post 130 - Douglas K. McCloskey. He was killed August 1, 1917 in the Chateau Theirry Drive in France. He enlisted on June 14, 1918 as a member of the band of the 33rd Infantry. When his regiment left for France he was quarantied for the measles at Camp Merritt in New Jersey. When he went overseas he ended up with 32nd Division M G 125th Infantry after taking a machine gun course. He gave the supreme sacrifice. He would be buried in France but would be brought home in 1921 to his final resting place at Spencer Cemetery, Crystal, MI.

Original Post was Chartered in 1919 - Douglas K. McCloskey American Legion - Charter was closed in 1928 due to an influenza epidemic in Carson City.
