American Legion Post 65 was named after Edward O Fugle and Frank Hummer boh wounded at Battle St Mihiel September 19 ,1918. Both died of wounds one on the Battle field and one at First aid Hospital.

The year was tough with a large fight to keep Clarksboro Billets an Orphanage in Middlesex County open. When National Headquarters decided to Abandon the Clarksboro Billets' Middlesex County made a vigorous fight against the closure and it's Officers went to Chicago to Protest National Commander Howard Savage against Abandonment of the Billets. Activities very high at the Toms River Convalescent Home many Hours and many Donations made by Middlesex County Posts. Hudson County joins in supporting the home brought about largely by the efforts of Middlesex County representatives.
