Temporary Charter

May 22, 1975
In the spring of 1975, District 1 Commander Holly Nunnenkamp asked Ed Nylund to help form an American Legion Post in Aloha. Later that spring Department Commander Ed Stack, Department Adjutant Ron Dreezen, and District 1 Commander Holly Nunnenkamp held a public meeting at the I.O.O.F. Hall in Aloha. The Auxiliary held a Poppy-Popping party at Ginger Perkin's residence on May 19th. Margie Dwyer, Junior Miss Poppy, assisted. On May 19th, 20th, and 21st they distributed poppies. They received $163.93. The Junior Miss Poppy collected $23.02. Lucille Turner designed a cute little costume for our poppy girl. Leona Martin chaired the events.

We purchased the current Post Home from a Pentecostal Church. The cost was $75,000. Bob and Rose Lanyon loaned the Post $20,000 to make the purchase. Charles T. Imlay built the original building in 1934-1935 as a satellite store to the feed mill in Reedville (now Harvey Boats). He hand picked and purchased the lumber at the American Mill in Vernonia, Oregon.
