In the spring of 1975, District 1 Commander Holly Nunnenkamp asked Ed Nylund to help form an American Legion Post in Aloha. Later that spring Department Commander Ed Stack, Department Adjutant Ron Dreezen, and District 1 Commander Holly Nunnenkamp held a public meeting at the I.O.O.F. Hall in Aloha. They needed fifteen members to charter a Post. Ed Nylund, Ben Martin, and Bob Lanyon went to work and signed up fifteen members to charter a Post. Recruiting activities continued, and on May 22, 1975, they held a Post Meeting at the I.O.O.F. hall in Aloha to elect temporary officers. They elected Ed Nylund as Commander, and Bob Lanyon as Adjutant.

In the beginning they raised $379 by selling raffle tickets or a stuffed dog. Thanks to Legionnaire String Berg they held numerous bake sales, fried chicken sales, and garage sales at the old Top Notch Tavern.
