On March 24, 1921 a permanent charter was issued to Post 61 (adding Clarence Jacobson) in the name of "Ibell - Jacobson" by National Headquarters to replace permanent charter dated November 6, 1919 due to change of name formally requested by Post and approved by Department. The new name was Ibell - Jacobson Post No. 61, Deep River, Connecticut.

Ob February 2, 2109, the Amdrican Legion National Oratorical Contest (District 7) was held at Post 66, Clinton Connecticut. There were two contestants participating in the district level competition. Connor Riordan, a senior at Valley Regional High School, represented Post 61 Deep River; and Kaitlyn Wallace, a senior at Westbook High School representing Post 103 Westbrook.
