Hammond-Schmit American Legion Post 55 is celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2024. This is a huge milestone! The post has adopted a new title going forward. They want to be known as the Hortonville “American Legion Family.” The family consists of the post, their Auxiliary Unit 55 and newly formed Sons of American Legion Squadron 55, but it does not stop there. The family also includes the communities in and around the Hortonville, Wis., area. For over 100 years the Legion has supported their local communities at parades, schools, churches and other civic events. Their honor guard and color guards are well-known for their patriotism and professionalism in honoring both the living and those dearly departed. This June, the Legion family will be hosting a community celebration of all that has been done together. They will share their first big community goal going into the next 100 years: To build a Legion family facility that will serve to hold meetings and events. This new facility is definitely needed in their area. How can you help? Please reach out to us through hortonvillelegion.org and consider how we all can come together to continue to build the Legion family!
