American Legion Post 16 making to host The Moving Wall in Shelton An estimated 200 plus motorcycle riders met The Wall at the state line in Danbury at 1PM on October 11th. Shelton Post 16 Hosts National Commander a second year in a row

For the second time in as many years the Post 16 Family welcome a National Commander to Connecticut. Commander Morin was greeted by hundreds of Legionaries along with City and State leaders. In true Post 16 fashion, the winding 1/4 long driveway was lined with Legionaries, Scouts and civic leaders to salute Commander Morin upon his arrival.

Post 16 Dedicates the new flag pole and brick walk of honor

Thanks to the volunteer efforts of several Post 16 family member at Brick Veterans Walk of Honor and Flag Pole were dedicated on Memorial Day 2011. Bricks dedicated to Veterans from across the Lower Naugatuck Valley in Connecticut surround the base of the new flag pole.

Sandy struck Connecticut on Oct. 29, causing about $360 million in damage, knocking out power for days and killing four people in the state. In Shelton we were lucky. There was no loss of life, but many buildings were damaged and power was out to many parts of town for over a week. Post 16 suffered severe damage to the our roof and water damage to our post home. Members of The American Legion Post 16 Family of Shelton walked for Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Members of the Post 16 Legion Family walked with comrades from Legion Posts across Fairfield County to help raise funds for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center at Veterans Park on the Riverwalk in Shelton. Post 16 welcomed American Legion National Commander Michael Helm to Connecticut. The National Commander’s dinner was held at 6PM, May 18th at Sutter-Terlizzi American Legion Post 16 in Shelton. During his visit to Post 16 in Shelton, Commander Helm will be presented Blue Star Banners to Shelton Families who have loved ones serving our country on active duty.
