October of 2006 Post 16 hosted the Moving Wall. Below are the details of the event. Wednesday October 11 Noon: Set up platform/base for the wall. Mid Day: Wall arrives with full escort including about 200 motorcycles, with State and Local Police from the CT State line. Honor Guard, Local Fire Department, Police and many veteran and civic groups greeted & saluted the wall and escorts at they arrive at Canal St in Shelton. Opening Day Thursday, October 12 5:00PM Units Assembled 5:15PM Welcoming by Post 16 & Mayor Lauretti 5:45PM Reading of Valley Casualties by their home town residents & Placing of flowers by Ladies Aux. and Shelton Girl Scouts. 6:15PM 21 Gun Salute by Post 16 followed by taps and evening colors. Friday October 13 All Day: Educational programs. Students from across Southern Connecticut visited the wall. 6:20PM Evening Colors 7:00PM Candlelight ceremony Conducted by V.V.A. Chapter 251 followed by Fallen Warrior Ceremoney Saturday October 14 6:20PM Evening Colors 7:00PM Candlelight ceremony Sunday October 15 Closing Day 1:00PM Units Assemble (any veterans or civic groups that wish to join in the program 1:00PM Opening with National Anthem 1:15PM Speaker(s) Linda Schwartz & Atty. Gen. Blumenthal 2:00PM Reading of Connecticut Casualties by volunteers and guest speakers. 3:30PM Fallen Warrior Ceremoney 4:00PM 21 Gun Salute by Post 16 followed by taps
