Every year in October members of the Post 16 family join along with are Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to conduct a flag retirement in accordance with the Legion Officer's Guide Book. After the Post Sargent at Arms advises the Post Commander that his orders have been carrier out, the Commander instructs the Sargent to dismiss his detail and feed them. Scouts are treated to hot dogs, soup and soda by Sons of the American Legion Squadron 16.
