McNiff Post of the American Legion was organized with 75 members at the Jewell theatre at Anthon Monday of last week - Mapleton Press, Thursday, March 4, 1920 ed.
McNiff Post #389 received its charter on September 21st, 1920
Lee Schrunk (Commander), Cecil Plato and Cloyd Hayworth were the first officers once the charter was issued. (Cecil Plato was the prior Commander when the Post was in the organization stage.)
McNiff Post #389 sponsored several Junior Legion baseball teams throughout the years. 1935 was one of the years they won the title of County Champions of the American Legion Junior Baseball.
