The first Anthon Service Roll, a composite list of the Anthon men and women who served in WWII, was put up during the mid-40’s by the Community and Legion. Some 248 veterans in the Anthon Trade Area or past Anthon residents were listed and seven who were killed in action had stars placed in front of their names. The service roll was eventually taken down during the fifties when the board, rotted by weather, deteriorated to a point of total disrepair. The next one, a brick Veterans wall, was dedicated in 1998. After a dozen years or so, it too needed to be taken down due to deterioration of the bricks. The current wall was erected in 2011.
