Forming Our Post

In the summer of 2015, a small group of veterans met at the Li Thong Hotel in Ubon Thailand
with the intent of forming a VFW post. There were VFW posts already established In Thailand
so we thought it would be a relatively easy thing to do.
We soon found out that the requirements to join the VFW were quite stringent. We had the

Our post held it's first Thanksgiving dinner at Tom's American restaurant in Ubon. Tom and members did the cooking along with several family members that brought dishes. There was plenty of food and no one went hungry.

During WW II, POWs were kept at a Japanese POW camp in Ubon. The conditions were harsh and food for the prisoners was in short supply. A Thai lady and her daughter, at the risk of their lives, would sneak up the to the camp and hand food through the fence.
