Washington County World War I solders leaving for training at Camp Grant in Rockford, Illinois, around 1917. This photo was taken outside the West Bend passenger rail depot. Camp Grant was one of the largest training facilities during World War I. Soldiers did basic training there before being assigned to their specific units and shipping out.
