Crews- Epperson - Puryear Post 79 was chartered on December 16th, 1929. The membership elected F. E. Bobbitt to serve as its first commander. He served only 7 months until the Post held their regular elections in June 1930. Commander Bobbitt served 27 months with the 80th Division, 317th Infantry, Company A during World War I. He also served with the 2nd U.S. Cavalry in Germany after the armistice.
