The American Legion family of Post 597 is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the national Legion organization with an event for the entire community of Carrollton, Texas in a celebration of the legacy and vision of the national and local outposts alike.  Post 597 has served the community since 1947.  We celebrate the past 100 years as we look to the next 100. Hundreds of people camne out and celebrated as we had live music by "Strange Mix", a Dallas-based rock and roll cover band.  They had a wide range of classic rock music to listen and dance to.  We also had a 45' "Delta Force" military style obstacle course bounce house, face painting, corn hole and we even had Wonder WOman, Supergirl and Snow White walking around chatting up and visiting with some of our younger visitors.   Back at the post, we had hamburgers, hot dogs, refreshments and our very own "Wall of Honor".  This wall honors ALL servicemen and servicewoman from the state of Texas that made the ultimate sacrifice serving and defending our country and our freedom during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
