Hendersonville American Legion Post 290 recently gave the Hendersonville Culver’s restaurant an award for their support of their Post and to the veterans the Legion serves. For nearly a year Culver’s has invited Post 290 to serve food to their patrons between 5pm and 8pm on the 22nd of each month. Culver’s donates to the Post a percentage of their proceeds during these hours. In addition Culvers allows the American Legion to have a donation jar available for additional contributions from the public.

The 22nd of each month is a special day for the Legion. It signifies that 22 veterans still commit suicide each day. So this has given the Post a creative way to raise funds in order to help veterans as well as raising community awareness about this ongoing tragedy. Post 290’s motto is “0 > 22”. In other words, 0 suicides per day is greater than 22 suicides per day. Post 290 is blessed and grateful to have this money-raising opportunity that provides so much benefit to veterans in need.

Post 290 invites all veterans and patriots to join us on the 22nd of each month by having a great meal while taking a moment to stop by and visit with us. And don’t forget to have some custard for dessert, because it is simply the best!
