After 11 months of conducting meetings, doing fundraisers, joining in community events and helping veterans, their families and children and youth in the Hendersonville, TN community our Post received its permanent Charter. This was a wonderful event after the hard work that it takes to accomplish this goal. The Permanent Charter Officers are: Toni N. Cory - Commander; Robert L. Underwood - Adjutant; Cary J. Kolek - 1st Vice-Commander; Robert F. Maiola - 2nd Vice-Commander; Thomas Ratz - Finance Officer; Able J. Lormand - Sergeant-at-Arms: Raymond L. Rogers - Judge Advocate; James D. Huffman - Chaplain; and James H. Bachman - Historian.

Post 290 also started a fundraiser/community awareness event called "Save 22" where we served food at Culver's Restaurant every 22 of the month to bring awareness to our community about the 22 veterans that commit suicide each day. This has been a great success for our Post and the community. This has helped us have funds to help many veterans with their financial needs.

We have become very active in the community, participating in parades, Memorial Day Events, Color Guard events for schools, both Boy's and Girls State participation, funeral honors, etc. We are proud to be active in our community and many people are making positive comments about their local American Legion Post 290!
