In 1923 post 65 builds a meeting hut.

At present day Caldwell Park, American Legion Post 65 becomes a hangout with its meeting hut by the pool.  The city of Statesville would take over in 1954 and the famous "legion pool" would become tennis courts as we know them today. The adjacent property is that of the Oakwood Cemetery where all but three of our founders are interred. This is all located off of East Broad St in Statesville.
