The American Legion Department of NJ conducts an annual coloring contest for 4th and 5th grade students as part of its Americanism Projects.  Each year they distribute a patriotic image for the students to color.  Zoeya Syed, a student at Nutley, NJ's Washington School participated along with hundreds of other students from six Nutley elementary schools in 2019 and 2020.  In 2019 she won first place in Nutley, then first place for Essex County and finally second place for the entire state of NJ.  In 2020 Zoeya again participated in the program again winning first place in Nutley and Essex County but this time she won first place for the State of NJ.  Her entries for the past two years are shown here.  Nutley Post 70 has participated in this program since it began several decades ago and has celebrated many winners of County and State honors.
