Nutley veterans, including members of Post 70, linked electronically with soldiers of the Royal British Legion in England for simultaneous ceremonies marking the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion on the beaches of Normandy. Inspiration for the dual ceremonies was applauded and embraced by Mr. Albert Weidemann of the Royall British Legion. The formal cross-Atlantic response from America was transmitted by Commissioner Rogers from the World War II Monument between Town Hall and the Nutley Public Library and included the reading of the names of those Nutley residents who were part of the Normandy invasion.
