The Post used various means to raise the funds necessary to carry out their programs while maintaining the Post Home. Fundraising activities, solicitations for sponsorships, and the rental of the main hall at 45 Franklin Avenue were among these. In 2003 the Post leased its main hall to a tenant in order to ensure a positive cash flow. The “back room” was, at this time, being used by the Marine Corps League but it was returned to its former status as the official meeting room for the Post. After the lease with the tenant was terminated the membership authorized the Board of Directors to engage a commercial realtor and attempt to find a new tenant without success. With operating funds continuing to dwindle and debts mounting a motion was passed at the June 1, 2012 monthly membership meeting authorizing the Board of Directors to offer the building for sale and to close such a sale if the offer exceeded a specified amount. On May 10, 2013 the Board of Directors closed the sale of 45 Franklin Ave. to a group of doctors.
