In May of 2004 Rich McClintick was elected Commander of Post 70 while his wife Barbara was elected President of Unit 70. This was the first time that a husband and wife held the highest office in their respective organizations at the same time in the history of the Nutley American Legion. Eight years later Rich was again elected Commander of the Post but this time with his daughter Donna Ackerman taking on the Presidency of the Unit almost a year to the day after the passing of her mother. Rich also served as Commander in 1999, 2000 and 2005.
