On October 24, 2006, the Nutley Fire Department responded to a small fire in a closet in the “back room” of the Post Home at 45 Franklin Ave. One of the firefighters responding was Steve Clar, a member of the Post. With the help of the Post Board of Directors, led by Rich McClintick, as well as the help of many volunteers from Post 70, Unit 70, and Squadron 70, the “back room” was renovated and returned to service. Donations from Unit 70 and Squadron 70 helped purchase new chairs and tables enabling the Post to once again generate funds by renting the “back room” for parties of up to 70 people.
