The July 18, 1925 edition of the Red Bank Register reported that the Freehold American Legion has donated a captured German cannon to the town. This donation was part of the National Defense Day celebration in Freehold. The cannon will be placed at the junction of Broadway and East Main Streets, now known as Elks Point.
